Rugby star Ugo Monye becomes Bloodman in an effort to recruit more male blood donors
We've teamed up with BT Sport rugby stars and pundits like Ugo Monye, Lawrence Dallaglio, Ben Kay and Craig Doyle to encourage more men to give blood.
Men typically make good blood donors because of high iron levels and the fact they can give more often than women.
Our film shows the stars helping with ideas for inspiring men to be blood donors. Watch their reaction to Ugo Monye dressed as Bloodman:
The absence of some antibodies in men’s blood makes it easier to use in blood products such as plasma and platelets.
These are often used to treat people with burns and cancer or those in accidents.
As the sports stars and tv pundits start to lose inspiration with their blood donation marketing ideas, Ugo Monye takes the campaign brainstorming session one step further.
"Perhaps we need a hero", ponders Martin Bayfield. "We said, we need a hero", echoes Craig Doyle.
"I am Bloodman!" proclaims Ugo as he appears in full superhero get up, much to the delight of his fellow BT Sport stars.
"Let's save lives one pint at a time", he exclaims. Sarra Elgan is so enthused by the idea she begins a chant in support of Bloodman.
It looks like he's saved the day, as the gang are suddenly full of ideas. "Think of the merch!" says Craig, as Martin makes suggestions of branded biscuits and action figures. "Lunchboxes?" offers Austin Healey, and the momentum is lost as attention suddenly turns to lunch.
You can become a blood donation superhero and save a life by registering to give blood and booking an appointment.
We need more men to donate as they can give blood more frequently, and the absence of some antibodies in their blood makes it easier to use to treat people with burns and cancer or those in accidents.
