With almost 5,000 donations needed every day, there’s never a shortage of remarkable stories emerging from the world of giving blood – be they from the research lab, the hospital bed, or the donor chair.

The Donor brings those stories to the fore: stories that may inspire you or make you laugh or cry, but should, more than anything, help you to feel proud of the amazing, compassionate, and generous thing you’re doing every time you donate.

James Mackay’s daughter Emilia was saved by a stem cell transplant after being diagnosed with a rare blood disorder at just five years of age. Now, platelet donor James is on a mission to give back by encouraging others to join the register.

Jourdan Dunn donates on World Sickle Cell Day

Supermodel Jourdan Dunn swapped the bright lights of the fashion runway for the bustle of Brixton Donor Centre to give blood on World Sickle Cell Day, helping to raise awareness of the condition.

“If there had been a donor my Mum would have lived”

This South Asian Heritage Month, there are 1,400 Asian families waiting for an organ transplant. Sadly, for Aisha’s mum Annsa, the wait for a kidney would prove too long. But the organs Bobby’s brother Mandip donated provide hope for the future.

Our latest contributor, Sam Awuku, was inspired to start giving blood by his friend David, who is a regular donor, and by his little sister, who has sickle cell.
