Entrance to Birmingham blood donor centre

Accessibility

The building is wheelchair accessible, with street level access. However, there is a small lip at the entrance to the building, approximately 5cm high. There is a lift to take you up to the donor centre on the 2nd floor. Please ring the buzzer to be granted access.

Travelling to the donor centre

You can find the centre next to the Second Cup Coffee Company.

If you are travelling by:

train and metro: the centre is less than a five minute walk from New Street Station.
bicycle: there are bike racks located in the pedestrianised street outside the donor centre, but please be aware that this is not a secure bike parking facility.
car: please be aware that the donor centre is on a pedestrianised street. Donors can park for free for 2 hours at the NCP New Street Car park on St Jude's Passage, B5 4AN (behind the Alexander Theatre). There is a 1.88m height restriction for this car park. Please bring your parking ticket to the donor centre and show it to a member of the team.

The car park is in Birmingham’s Clean Air Zone – you may have to pay to drive inside this. Check if you need to pay to drive in the Birmingham Clean Air Zone.

By train, from Birmingham New Street Station

By car, from the M6

Leave the motorway at Junction 6 and join the A38(M) towards Birmingham
Follow the A38(M) to Suffolk Street Queensway
Take the exit towards New Street
Turn left on to Suffolk Place (before the Alexandra Theatre)
Follow road around and take a right on to St Judes Passage, the NCP car park will be on your right
Walk out of the car park taking a left down St Judes Passage, then take a right on Station Road
At the junction walk left on to Hill Street, carry on until the next junction and take a right on to Navigation Street
Bear left on to Pinfold Street then slightly right on to Stephenson Street. Walk up the hill on Ethel Street until you reach New Street
The Donor Centre is located at number 61 which is opposite the top of Ethel Street

Birmingham New Street is in the Birmingham Clean Air Zone.

The donor centre is open on weekdays, evenings and weekends, as follows:

Tuesday - 7:50am to 3:35pm
Wednesday - 10:50am to 6:45pm
Thursday - 10:50am to 6:45pm
Friday - 7:50am to 3:35pm
Saturday - 7:50am to 3:35pm
Sunday - closed
