Travelling to the donor centre

The centre is located on St George's Hospital site.

If you are travelling by:

  • bus: routes 493 and G1 enter the grounds of St George’s Hospital. Several other bus routes serve roads within a short walk of the hospital.
  • tube: Tooting Broadway underground station on the Northern Line is a 10 minute walk from the donor centre, or a short ride on bus routes 493 or G1.
  • bike: the centre has locked bike shed for donors to use. Ask at reception for the access code.
  • car: there is limited free parking onsite, and off peak on-street parking.

Opening hours

The donor centre is open on weekdays, evenings and weekends, as follows:

  • Monday - 1:30am to 7:55pm
  • Tuesday - 8:20am to 6:55pm
  • Wednesday - 9:20am to 7:50pm
  • Thursday - 8:20am to 6:55pm
  • Friday - 8:20am to 3:10pm
  • Saturday - 8:20am to 3:10pm
  • Sunday - 8:20am to 3:10pm

What you can donate

Blood

An appointment to give blood takes an hour, with the donation taking around 5-10 minutes.

Your blood could help someone in an emergency, help save the lives of mothers and babies during childbirth, or help to fight sickle cell.

An appointment to give platelets takes around 2 hours, with the donation taking up to 90 minutes.
